Marjorie
Reed was born in Springfield, Illinois in 1915. She and her family
moved to Los Angeles and this is where she was raised. Her father,
a commercial artist, taught her to paint at age 3. At age 14. she
was hired by Walt Disney Studios to paint animation. As an adult
she started painting the Butterfield Overlalnd mail stage and it's
route. In her Model T Ford with her Alaskan Husky Dog, she traveled
the route the stage had taken from San Francisco to the Yuma Crossing
on the Colorado River. Marjorie later settled in Tombstone, Arizona,
where she set up a small gallery. It was a quaint old place which
had been used as a stage coach line stop in earlier days. Marjorie
Reed died in 1997. Her paintings are being bought up by collectors
and are increasing in value making them an excellent investment. |
